Superintendent of construction for the new corporate headquarters of Agra-Service, a leading western states distributor/dealership representing such agricultural equipment giants as Massey Ferguson, Hesston, Challenger and Kubota. The 20 acre site consisted of 17 acres of site improvements with US Highway alterations and a new roadway leading to the new 62,000 + square foot facility. The office portion of the corporate facility is a two-story steel structure with split-face masonry block, elevated concrete stabs, large expanse aluminum storefront systems, and various finishes. Branching off of the two-story office building area are two large and connected shop bays that have heated concrete slabs, several large overhead doors, and bridge cranes for servicing large equipment.. As a project manager for Young Construction, my duties included project estimation (quantity take-offs), bid preparation in using unit/price method, procurement of subcontractor bids, and final bid preparation. Assuming the bid was awarded, I would then prepare subcontracts detailing each individual subcontractor's scope of work, contract values, etc. During this time, I created the project schedule using software such as Suretrack Project Manager. I also prepared the "schedule of values" for each major portion of work which is then input into the schedule and used to bill the owner for monthly progress payments. During construction of projects, I remained in constant contact with the owner's, architects, engineers, and regularly held progress meetings with those parties providing valuable information and resolving critical path issues in a timely manner. As a project manager I spent most of my time on site and conducted weekly subcontractor coordination issues to work through issues as they arose. Other duties included preparation of monthly progress payment requests using AIA forms, ongoing QA/QC, schedule updates, requests for information (RFI's), change order requests and issuance of change orders. My responsibilities included working closely with owners, architects, engineers and governing agencies through the design phases of projects. I provided ongoing plan review during the creation of the construction drawings adding valuable input by looking at value engineering, constructability, drawing errors and omissions, and potential change orders. During this process, I prepared the bid package documents which included writing specifications, modifying AIA, AGC or other prime contracts to fit each project. Once the contract documents (drawings, specifications, etc.) were in place, I selected qualified contractors based upon the size and type of the project as well as contractor experience. During construction of several projects, I was responsible as the owner's agent managing RFI's, providing ongoing QA/QC inspections, administering changes to the project, scheduling and attending monthly meetings, issuing reports, and processing / approving progress payment reports.
