What an awesome professional with a fun side! I met Brian @2016 Game Jam @ the site hosted by the University of Waikato. As one of the key organisers & inspirers Brian made the experience very engaging, encouraged networking & risk taking in the adventure of design a new game. We joined with 36,000 jammers + 632 jam sites + 93 countries offering up an amazingly diverse contribution to the OVER 6860 GAMES MADE WORLDWIDE in 48 hours!

Brian is great team leader. He made himself available to council on project decisions and create a fun social environment outside of work to celebrate successes and keep team moral up. I believe much of our success in delivering a high standard of work to clients and in the Imagine Cup 2013 was down to strong leadership and management. Brian kept an open line of communication between everyone in the company, communicated with the client, sorted out all of the paperwork and official documents and picked up the slack to keep our projects moving forward at a swift pace. This allowed the rest of us to get on with our work without distraction. I would strongly recommend Brian in any role, especially something that requires a strong yet friendly leader and direct personality.

Currently working a dual role as the Associate Director - Research at Te Puna Haumaru (New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science) and as a Research Projects Developer for Research & Enterprise. At Te Puna Haumaru I have been working with researchers to identify research topics and to provide insights, connections, and collaborations, which are leading to funding of projects and ongoing collaborations with new partners. I manage existing relationships and have hard conversations when they are required to ensure that both parties can prosper and grow. At Research & Enterprise I look after two schools (Engineering and Computer Science) as well as providing support to two institutes and other parts of the university as required. I have a firm foundation of knowledge of the research activities across these schools and support the various activities and events. I provide connections and guidance for researchers on various aspects of research but in particular when engaging with MBIE or with Government agencies such as NZDF. Show less

Waikato University has been the perfect place for me to redefine my skill set and has nurtured my entrepreneurial side. The innovative atmosphere has meant that I have had the opportunity to start my own business and directly apply the material I have been learning.
