Brett was an eager and willing learner happy to take on the project of fold-able sign stands for SVHS. We discussed design considerations including stability, weight, costs, minimal dis-assembly for storage (without need for tools), and maximum material usage. Another factor of the design Brett worked, was schedule; the time frame to complete these stands was very short, thus the design needed simplicity to aid manufacturing. Brett sketched out a couple of design options, and after a review, we developed a Bill of Material from which Brett was able to complete the costing portion of this project. This portion of the project is most definitely

      1) Technical lead for the compilation and review of over 60 quarterly and annual reports every year. These reports are submitted to LA County or internal City of LA bodies with updates regarding the Safe Clean Water Program (SCWP) Capital Improvement Program and the schedule, cost, scope, and implementation of over 30 different stormwater projects. 2) A technical contributor to a City-wide SiteSAN desktop analysis and identification of the top 319 stormwater project site opportunities. This short list incorporated technical site feasibility, political and financial considerations, and additional SCWP priorities such as water supply augmentation and community investment. 3) Directly supervise four engineering associates and one student engineer. Complete a wide variety of supervisory, personnel, and administrative tasks to support the team's leads. 4) Led the development of three project feasibility studies and the resulting funding applications with the SCWP. Shepherded the applications through a yearlong review and selection process to be awarded over $23 million dollars for the City of Los Angeles. 5) A project manager of the Ballona Creek TMDL Project: two complex diversion and water treatment facilities employing ozone technology in federal flood control channels. Coordinated complex multi-jurisdictional permitting issues and environmental review (CEQA), pursued a total of $75 million dollars in funding for project costs, and managed both project design and bid/award along with the Bureau of Engineering. 6) Served as the Ballona Creek Watershed Management Group lead: led annual MS4 Permit and TMDL reporting efforts, hosted monthly coordination meetings, and executed a $5 million dollar cost-sharing MOA for watershed planning and water quality monitoring efforts with 10 partner agencies. 7) Wrote concept reports for several multi-benefit stormwater capture projects (with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, scheduling, and cost estimation).
