In 2012 I returned back into the construction field as a Project Manager to oversee roadway and bridge construction projects and the inspection forces needed to ensure we had sufficient coverage of employees to monitor the work of contractors.As a leadworker I developed the expert skills in public relations and for maintaining effective working relations with individuals and groups including inspectors, contractors, adjacent property owners, concerned citizens, and the travelling public. I reviewed and approved records, files, and reports completed by other employees so I could prepare the monthly estimates and final estimates so the contractors could be accurately paid for work performed. I maintained the material on-hand records keeping in compliance with the project budgeting methods and procedures. I was responsible for monitoring the estimate to ensure the project was kept on budget. I would anticipate overruns needed to complete the project and would coordinate with the Engineer to get proper approvals.I gained an extensive knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and was the Department Responsible Person (DRP) on several large scale complex multi-million dollar projects for the barricades, signs, and traffic control device inspections to ensure the barricades, signs, and traffic control devices were in compliance with the TMUTCD along with local governmental laws for safeguarding people and property free from danger, injury, liability, and damage. I was responsible for completing the day-time and night-time barricades, signs, and traffic control device inspections on a monthly basis, and completing and filing the required records, files, and reports within the required time frame.
