One key thing leadership team looks in Senior resources is to understand customer's needs and be flexible to adjust schedule to meet the ever evolving requirements. Startups work at a very fast pace and I found Brett not only having excellent technical skills, but he is also someone who would quickly understand and adapt to changing priorities. Brett rose to the occasion and stepped into BA role and constantly juggled between BA and Sr. Dev Lead titles with ease. He would give timely feedback to the team and help in ensuring that there are no blocks in current Sprint. Brett has always given positive feedback to the team members and mentored other developers. Datomar Labs was transitioning to agile delivery and Brett was open to learn, learnt quickly and in a very short period, he was leading Sprint planning and sprint sizing sessions. With Brett's technical leadership, we were able to bring almost every delayed project back on schedule. One thing I liked about Brett is that he was never late in meetings, something I always respect as a sign of true professional.

Project Administrator
-
2012 - 2013
In this position I was required to work well in a large variety of professional environments and with many different groups of people. I was responsible for communicating with clients, subcontractors and various departments within the company regarding the projects I had been assigned to. I was given a great deal of responsibility and would frequently take responsibility for work the Project Manager didn’t have bandwidth for in order to ensure our strict deadlines were met. Working closely with the Project Manager gave me the opportunity to take on a lot of different tasks which helped me build a very adaptable and broad skill-set. I enjoyed this position and only left the company because I wanted to move back to Winnipeg due to the high cost of living in Calgary. Show less

Customs & Safety Manager
-
Jun 2002 - Sep 2012
I was initially hired as a yard hand which involved a large amount of manual labor. I was also responsible for ordering, picking up and delivering supplies for the office as well as parts for the vehicles, assisting the mechanics in the shop and occasionally some light office work. Approximately three years later the work demands on the office staff had greatly increased and I was promoted to full time office assistant. I was responsible for answering the phones and performing other secretarial duties in addition to managing parts and supplies as noted above. This lead to a great improvement in my phone and organizational skills as well as helping me to adapt to a professional environment. Roughly three and a half years later I was promoted to customs certification & safety manager. My social skills were greatly improved in this position for the following reasons: I was required to communicate and maintain a positive relationship with government organizations in both Canada and the USA by phone, email and during business meetings/inspections. I assisted the freight broker by negotiating rates, cold calling potential customers and ordering special permits for the vehicles. I was also responsible for reviewing resumes of potential hires as well as setting policy and reviewing safety regulations with employees. Show less
