Engaged on the Economist Plaza project (now renamed as Smithson Plaza after the renowned architects that design it) as a freelance resident engineer for the building services design consultants, this was a grade 2 listed building being refurbished with extensive alterations in multiple locations to existing usage and layouts. Duties include quality inspections and progress reporting, assisting in resolving design and installation issues, assessment of design and contractor working drawings and technical submissions, commissioning and testing witnessing and verification and many more tasks representing the client team on site on a daily basis. This was an extremely high detail project due to the nature of the works and the difficulties of the existing building construction and required a high level of input for the size of the scheme

This role reports to director level and includes direct liaison with main contractors and client Site based role carrying out duties for the MEP design consultants retained on the Client Monitoring Team (CMT) on new Fitzroy Place development in London W1, total build cost around £200M. Project comprises complete new building construction of 3 large new buildings housing retail units, over 290 domestic apartments of various sizes and fit out levels (including 5 large penthouses), 2 large office blocks, a PCT facility and an education centre along with miscellaneous resident facilities and full renovation of an existing listed Chapel Carrying out detailed inspections, assessments and witnessing performance tests on all installations and equipment including commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, public health, security, IT/comms/data, life safety and infrastructure systems. Snagging new installations at all stages and raising issues with contractors responsible, monitoring of contractor activity and quality and dealing with design queries on the incomplete areas. Checking and collating documentation for all aspects of the MEP installation and reviewing finished manuals and certification to ensure both client and statutory requirements are met. This includes O&M manuals for all phases of the contract works Ensuring implementation of solutions agreed and coordination of activities for colleagues assisting on site and at the head office Raising and upkeep of relevant written and photographic records, certification and implemented solutions and the provision of reports to the client team and contractor management.

Working for the services consultant I was responsible for delivering the design with the client team and main contractors on a £265M project with around £100M of services being incorporated. This was a site based role and reported to director level and includes direct reporting to major contractors and site developer Project comprised complete new infrastructure installation and coordination with over 16Km linear distance of each service, 2 large commercial buildings with swimming pool, sports centre, 75 bed room hotel, retail and leisure facilities, a large energy centre with gas and biomass plant, several smaller commercial buildings and over 600 domestic guest dwellings of various sizes and fit out levels Duties include: - Carrying out detailed inspections, assessments, monitoring of contractor activity and quality, snagging on installed services works and dealing with design queries on the incomplete areas - Leading design and client meetings, provision of reports and leading development of design solutions as required including ensuring implementation of solutions agreed. - Coordination and agreement of solutions across the various parties involved in the project including all 3 main contractors, client agents, subcontractors and specialist parties (such as statutory utilities) - Witnessing relevant performance tests and commissioning, checking and collating documentation and reviewing finished manuals and certification to ensure client and statutory requirements are met. - Management and coordination of activities for colleagues assisting on site and at the head office - Raising and upkeep of relevant records, diaries, certification and implemented solutions - Assisting client QS with valuation and assessment of progress in all sections of the build.
