  As Head of Faculty I manage a team of 10 staff who teach English and Indonesian. I am very confident with my understanding of the Australian Curriculum: English and the Queensland Studies Authority English (2010) Syllabus. I am responsible for leading a team who must provide challenging, innovative and engaging curriculum for Years 7 - 12 English and Years 5-10 Indonesian to our excellent students at Sheldon College.I love going to work each and every day. For me, the true success of a lesson is when I overhear a student say 'that lesson went quickly!' If I can make English and Literacy instruction that informative and effective in 70 minutes, then I have achieved my task.In my role I am responsible for:- QCAA Verification and Exit processes for Seniors- QCAA Monitoring procedures- QCAA QCS (Writing Task) program developer for Sheldon College- NAPLAN Year Level Test Administrator for Years 7 - 9 from 2012- 2015- Organisation of classes and teachers to deliver a high quality program, informed by student data. - School administrator for the ICAS Writing and ICAS English tests.- Implemented Marzano’s Art and - Science of Teaching as a Learning Framework in English and Languages Education Years 5-12 to support College strategic plan of Instructional Leadership- Provided full Scope and Sequence in English (Years 7 to 12)- Supervised Pre-Service teachers (English)

Plain English Speaking Award (PESA)

  In a voluntary capacity I coordinate the Plain English Speaking Award for the state of Queensland. The Plain English Speaking Award (PESA) is an international Public Speaking competition for students in Years 11 and 12. PESA promotes exactly what it is says - speaking in plain English. Students are required to prepare an 8 minute prepared speech on a topic of their own choosing, sit for a 3 minute public interview (where they will be questioned on their speech and provided profile about themselves) and a 3 minute impromptu speech with 4 minutes preparation time. The impromptu speech should show an audience the student's knowledge of current affairs as well as their own view point. The competition has been running in Australia since 1977. We have had success in winning the International Competition in 2012. In 2013, the Queensland representative won the Australian division and will now head to London in 2014 to contest the International title.
