Conducted initial interview and CAD tests for all designers and drafters looking to work for UES. Worked with many clients on a range of heavy equipment including, but not limited to: - Helped Dynamis Power Solutions to continuously update mobile turbine driven powerplants between 6 and 35 megawatts for improved manufacturability and reliability. Created basic layout models and weight distribution documentation for upcoming 48 and 54 megawatt three trailer systems which will incorporate a 125,000 lb generator. Also began the process of migrating Dynamis models into Inventor Vault. - Worked with Custom Fire Apparatus (CFA) to immediately fill roles of two long time engineers who had created a complex parametrically driven model in Creo 4 for designing custom one-off fire trucks. CFA was so pleased with the quality and speed of work that they extended the contract with UES from 2 months to 3 months and then again indefinitely. - Was part of the team that designed and ran full analysis for Manitex’s new 85 Ton, 5 section, single cylinder truck mounted crane boom. Specifically worked on creating models and drawings using Solidworks. - Helped Evolution Well Services to update electric powered frac-well pumps using Inventor. Worked on the overall assembly levels, fuel system, and motor/pump disconnect. - Used Solidworks to created a sound-dampening removable enclosure for their diesel powered fac-pump trailer. - Created detailed models and drawings using solidworks for electric motors designed by Design Motors. Used Creo Parametric to design sheet metal parts, tubes, and hydraulic hose assemblies to CAT standards and ran finite element analysis on personal designs and large assemblies, specifically: - Ran FEA for mounting new engine air filters on the 836 Trash Compactor engine enclosure. - Designed and improved engine installation parts for MD5150, MD5110, and DTH track drills to decrease manufacturing cost and increase commonality between three different machines. - Designed new assemblies to fix problems with access ladder and platform failure, and designed wheel chock holders and new bumper arrangements on 988, 990, 992 Large Wheel Loaders. - Routed muffler lines, designed cooling system overflow tank, cooling system fan mounting, and ran FEA on cooling system frame for MD6200 Rotary Drill Platform. Collaborated as a part of a team with other CAT engineers around the world over the phone, email, and via Teamcenter PLM software. Used Solidworks to draft parts for ALTEC and modeled 3-D printed plastic slate shingle replacement. Show less
