In addition, Jersey Shore is deemed high performing across five common adult procedures and conditions – aortic valve surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), heart bypass surgery, heart failure, and hip replacement surgery. The goal of the internship worked directly with nurses and Physicians to provide quality rehabilitative care to to CVICU patients so that discharge time was halved. • Assisted recovering open heart patients with physical therapy • Took vitals and assisted nurses with set-ups • Shadowed doctors and physician assistants and watched a coronary artery bypass surgery
