Developing a provision for students with a range of SEN including SEMH, ADHD and Autism. Through this position I have been able to create and design both the environment and individualised curriculum. Collaborating with the Bluebird unit (specialising in ASC) I have been working on a project based approach to delivering a broad and balanced school experience utilising students topics of interest to increase engagement and progress. I have also been developing Google Classrooms and online learning to enable learning to continue where students are unable to be 'onsite'. I have also found that for many students online learning can be extremely effective and have been developing my knowledge of a range of both paid and free programs. Show less

Through my collaboration with SEN Recruitment I was able to spend time teaching in a number of roles in SEN schools throughout the North West. The roles enabled me to explore best practice in SEMH, PMLD and Autism sectors as a classroom teacher, form tutor and outdoor education practitioner including forest schools. I also had the opportunity to develop my interest in using a range of art and music based activities to enable students to develop positive experiences within a school setting. Over the course of my time at Heathfield I was able to an integral part of a brand new school from its first entrants to CIS accreditation and development of Secondary provision. The school was unique in that it was inclusive and encouraged applications form students with a range of SEN. My flexible and creative approach to problem solving enabled me to drive change and development across the whole school and lead the schools successful application for CIS accreditation.
