Environmental Monitor
-
Feb 2013 - Aug 2013
As an Environmental Monitor with the Escambia County Government I worked under the Water Quality Division; specifically working on a focused study of PCB contamination in aquatic sediments of Escambia Bay. While working as an Environmental Monitor I assisted in designating a plan for obtaining aquatic soil core samples from each location mapped out. I would mark sample location via GPS. As well as obtaining soil core samples in each location in Escambia Bay our team took water quality analysis of the surface water and the depth of each sample of soil obtained. Our team would then bring the samples to the lab to dry each sample for further testing. Our team would preform grain size analysis on each sample and then determine the sample weights before and after drying. We would then properly package, sign, and seal each core sample according to code to be sent to another lab to further find composition and chemical contamination testing.
