I began in 1990 working as Claims Examiner for Group Health claims. Processing claims included correspondence with members, update records, verification of benefits, etc. Special jobs included trouble shooting, updating desk procedures manual, subrogations, and additional duties as assigned. I was promoted to Disability and Flex Technician October of 1997 and am currently doing strictly disability claims now for 10 years now. Disability Claims Adjustor's duties and responsibilities involves: 1) Process long and short-term disability claims in accordance with specifications, and determines benefit distributions making timely claims payments and adjustments for workers' compensation and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), and other disability offsets as needed. 2) Coordinates rehabilitation and referral efforts with external review organzations. 3) Performs all monthly, quarterly, and yearly disability reporting and other reports as needed. 4) Communicates clearly with claimant and members all aspects of claims process either by phone and/or email and/or written correspondence. 5) Informs claimants of documentation required to process claims, required time frames, payment information and claims status.
