I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Brenda Carter. As a NEARS Scholar, Brenda has demonstrated a strong work ethic along with the determination to be successful in the field of nursing. The NEARS Program (Nursing Education And Retraining for Success) is funded by a U.S. Department of Labor Grant that provides a highly competitive scholarship to assist students in the completion of their nursing career goals. Brenda was able to complete a strenuous academic program through Ohio University’s School of Nursing and was also able to maintain all of the requirements of the NEARS Scholarship. I feel Brenda has shown the abilities and qualities it takes to become a successful nurse, co-worker, and leader.

I knew Brenda when she was the EH&S Manager at Velocys. She did an outstanding job of to support facilities and experimental operations to always find safe ways to complete vital work. Brenda is straightforward with great communication skills, and it was a pleasure to work with her.
