Having lunch with Brenda yesterday at a volunteer fair reminded me that her work with Kent County Tax Credit Coalition has encouraged UCOM to continue and expand our work with the VITA free tax preparation. It is Brenda's unwavering devotion to and passion for helping people in our community that has led the Coalition to the point where in 2010 22 sites put $10 million dollars in tax refunds back into the pockets of low-income workers in our community and therefore back into the struggling economy of Kent County. I am always overwhelmed at the grace and compassion, the strength and leadership that this exceptional woman brings to the under-served and under-represented in our community. I highly recommend her collaborative spirit and her ingenuity and passion for the good work she does in the community in her job and in her personal commitment to volunteerism and usefulness to those often overlooked in our community. Brenda is a constant inspiration and joy to me personally and certainly to UCOM as a community agency that seeks to give voice to those who are often under-valued. I highly recommend the diligence, passion and love she exhibits in her work every day.
