I worked with Brandon Stam on our Junior game project at DigiPen Institute of Technology. Brandon is an extremely positive and enthusiastic person, who works really hard to uplift the rest of their team. They were very active in supporting artists especially, and they hold a lot of respect to the craft. As a designer, they worked very closely with the art team, and it always felt like our input mattered to the design process. Brandon is very compassionate and caring, and they frequently made sure to check in on their teammates' health and overall well-being. Brandon also made decisions when they needed to, and was very active in consulting others for their thoughts on any issues. They were always very passionate about the project, no matter how low morale might've been to the circumstances of online learning. They put in a lot of effort into making sure their work was as good as it could be, and to encourage others to congratulate themselves on their contributions. This all came from a place of genuine care, and definitely uplifted the team and created a more positive work environment.

I didn’t know what 100% looked like until I met Brandon Stam. Above all else, the defining trait of Brandon as a designer, classmate, mentor, leader, colleague, and friend is their uncompromising dedication and devotion to any goal or task you put in front of them. This dedication shows in Brandon’s design work, expanding beyond school assignments and into personal projects. Vac-Attack is a highlight of Brandon’s design portfolio, not only because of its quality as an experience, but also because after a long semester of schoolwork, they spent their holiday break working on even more game design. It is this work ethic, passion, and constant drive to improve that makes Brandon an ideal fit on a game project. As a designer, Brandon has developed a deep and rich understanding of the design process and how to craft an experience tailored for a user base. Their proficiency and demeanor in testing and refining their design work is something I’ve personally modeled my own habits after and has led to personal success. Brandon is someone who leads by example and sets the standard of the people around them. This goes beyond personal success and reflects on the people they surround themselves with. Brandon is not merely a great designer, but someone who improves everyone around them. Brandon is a world class designer, a community leader and mentor, and someone that improves the wellbeing of the people around them. Your game will improve with Brandon Stam as a designer. Your team will improve with Brandon Stam as a teammate.
