Implemented and extended a mesoscale elasto-visco plastic fast-Fourier transform (EVP-FFT) crystal plasticity-based model to investigate the evolution of deformation twins and under various microstructural constraints, including their interactions with other twins, precipitates, and free surfaces. The formation and proliferation of deformation twins has been shown to strongly influence the overall mechanical properties of many light-weight alloys, such as Mg and Ti. This research aimed to improve the general understanding of how microstructural features influence the development of twins in Mg-based alloys in order to better inform the microstructural design of these materials for industrial applications.
