We say 'fortune favours the brave' as it takes clients with guts to be disruptive; to take on the big boys; to challenge the status quo; and to believe in the value of intangibles. Long live intangibles! My most current experience was being a speaker to the Dutch Entrepreneurs Club, where I was the second speaker. It was until I arrived that I found that I was to follow, the Dutch Prime Minister - that's a hard act to follow! Show less

Singapore/Australia Manage and international branding consultancy for five years across Asia and Australia. So, working together with the Ogilvy team for five years was a real eye-opener. Ogilvy (back then) really lived up to their promise of being 'the most valued by those who most value brands' - thanks to Ogilvy Indonesia, I got to work on the largest bank merger in Indonesian history (four large state-owned banks with the lowest NPLs merging together to create one brand 'Bank Mandiri'... learned a lot from… Show more Manage and international branding consultancy for five years across Asia and Australia. Singapore Managing Director of Springham Anderson (Singapore) through the acquisition process with WPP Group; to become Enterprise IG Singapore (Now, Superunion, Singapore). Springham Anderson was acquired January 2000 (though the acquisition process began throughout 1999). It was one of those opportunities that don't come very often (though it has happened to me twice?)... Meeting Dave Allen of Enterprise IG London, he asked to buy the company (reminds me of the 1979 Remington Shaver Ad). It was a steep learning curve, but I did get to travel to meet the principals in San Francisco, New York, London, Hamburg and Hong Kong.

Director
-
Jan 1986 - Dec 1989
A merger of Russell Springham Design and Hulme Dickson Partnership - I was one of six directors including: Russell Springham, John Hulme, Peter Dickson, Richard Dickson and Andrew Stumpfel. In 1989 was sent to set-up and run the Singapore office, which was set-up in JV with a local partner. Whether I draw the short straw or not, being sent to build the Asian office was a huge step for both myself and my young family at the time. It changed everything for me.

Graphic Designer
-
Feb 1983 - Dec 1985
My first job after leaving university; worked as graphic designer; and became the studio manager of a small to medium size design company. Worked with both Russell Springham (with whom I built several brand, design and communications companies with) and the legendary Les Mason; he was both my teacher at University and a consultant to the firm) - it was a lucky break to have worked with these guys!
