  This one-year project extension of my PhD project involved valorisation of our research results on the cleaning of root canals. Our goal was to further improve the current ultrasonic cleaning techniques and test new devices.

  Experimental, numerical and theoretical investigation of the cleaning of root canals during the irrigation step of a root canal treatment. We looked into flow from a needle, acoustic streaming and cavitation induced by an ultrasonically oscillating file and cavitation generated by a laser. High-speed imaging of the processes was employed frequently, in order to understand the working mechanisms of the root canal cleaning techniques.
