Great interactions empower people. Whether it is a team communicating purposely and openly or a great piece of design that takes a user from average to exceptional, I am passionate about facilitating great interactions. The heart of any coaching interaction is to help individuals and teams find the improvements they need to move forward. I use the lessons from my multifaceted career to meet individuals where they are and help get to where they aspire to be.I am an advocate for strong technical practice and automation in development. My focus is on clear communication, clarifying purpose and creating high performing cross-functional teams that deliver. The agile manifesto starts out with the idea, “We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it.” I practice what I preach and help teams to do the same

Natural Language Generation (NLG) is the art of taking information and turning it into a human readable text that feels appropriate to the message it is conveying. Articulator Lite is a tool to take your data and create your own texts without needing to have a deep level of linguistic understanding. I work with my team to create Articulator Lite (http://www.articulatorlite.com/).Part of the joy of my work is the opportunity for growth. I've seen my mindset shift significantly over the course of my time with Arria. The software we create is fantastic, but the team that we have built is an even greater achievement. We work in rapid iterations to deliver a game changing software tool in the area of natural language generation. Our work is complicated, involved and mixes a Java API with developer-focused javascript SPA to provides tools for constructing deeply customisable human readable texts. In order to deliver this product, we have needed to experiment often, fail fast and push the limits of the available libraries for consuming data and constructing texts. Continual introspection and adaption has helped me to deliver business value and grow my skills to support the team.Highlights and duties: Design user work flows and interaction with Articulator Lite (A natural language generation tool)Create Web Tools enabling non-developers to use natural language generation with their dataWork within the team agile frameworkUse test driven design and developmentMentor and coach problem solving and code skills within the organisation and teamSupport the product owner vision for Articulator LiteEstablish automation of front end build task for continuous integrationProvide strategic direction for front end developmentUse Angular and JavaScript to create user interactionsSplit out front end code base to its own repository/projectMigrate current project to Angular with a material design interfaceDeveloping demonstration products in front end

My work transformed businesses. An example is www.aclasscatering.com.au. The business had a home-spun website with fantastic content and little visual appeal. There existed a disconnect between the site and the service. After organizing a logo and updating the site's look and usability and applying standard SEO principles, the business started booking major jobs to the point that A Class Catering had to start growing their team. The site stared something that equaled unprecedented growth and culminated in the team be awarded the title of " Illawarra Brides choice awards for exceptional food and service". I really enjoyed the role. I worked directly with the business owners to discover the best solutions for them. We would work through rapid iterations of design mocks and check in regularly on content a pages to discover the optimal solutions. I would then work with our junior staff to construct sites and apps that could be deployed, tested and delivered to meet the business need. The fact that we never left them at the door appealed to me. I would deliver training on the site in question then support them on their maintenance journey in the years after.DutiesManage junior staff and provide mentoring and support in completion of projectsDevelop custom modules and components for clients’ systems to meet project goals Develop and deploy websites for clients from end to end using the appropriate systems including Joomla, WordPress, Magento, Moodle, XCart plus others Provide training and consultation for clients to ensure long term viability of projects Manage projects to obtain optimal results in establishing and maintaining a web presence for clients Develop Mobile Applications in both Android and iOS environments as needed by clients Client consultation in all facets of web presences from SEO to Social Marketing and eDM Campaigns Maintain and provide ongoing support to client websites Develop solutions for the Media Control Panel created by Cast Control

Whilst the life of a Radio DJ seem amazing, most of the time I simply talked to an audience as if they sat in front of me. The challenge was always to remain engaging and to keep one's energy up on air. The physical demands were low and consisted of keeping the computer system moving whilst on a shift. I recorded voice overs and participated in fundraising for the station. Mostly I just talked and enjoyed my time in a little booth in Coniston.
