I handle the uppermost section of the drilling string as it is brought from or lowered into the well bore or drill hole. I oversees some of the machinery on the rig and is responsible for the conditioning of the drilling fluid and the circulation machinery. I spend 25% of my time up in the rigs derrick and plays the lead roll in stacking and guiding pipe as it is tripped in and out or reconnected into the hole. I work with the mud systems, monitors weight and mixes weight properly while reporting any changes. My position requires mixing chemicals, monitoring pump manifolds and most importantly, good communication with the Engineer and the Driller.

I sailed up all the loches on the St Lawrence seaway and the great lakes several times. I worked as a deck hand and a wheels man on several large vessels. I scaled up mountain sides, painted light houses, stood guard duty, worked with the military and the police. It was a good job just not steady. I worked as a fill in worker.
