This was a job I thoroughly enjoyed. My journey working for the co-operative group began with an interview in March 2019. After becoming successful in securing the job, I worked my hardest to learn as much as I possibly could with help from my colleagues and managers. I jumped straight into action and within two weeks I was confident on the till and at dealing with customers. I established great relationships with the regulars and my colleagues from early on. I used every opportunity to gain experience in the supervisor role after realising that was what I wanted to progress to and achieve. I would offer my help wherever possible to cover extra shifts and this meant I worked in 5 different stores multiple times across the area. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of meeting new people and learning more. After a certain period of time in working at Eastbourne co-op, I was offered the opportunity to move to the Newhaven store to train as a team leader. My day to day shift at co op would consist of working from 2pm through to 11pm usually, checking dates on products and working trolleys, serving customers on till and assisting them with any issues they may have, planning my shifts out carefully while being able to adapt at a moments notice to any changes, fitting in break times, bringing in delivery’s and checking them off, doing a stock gap check each evening and finally facing up the store to present it nicely for customers shopping the following day. I would work this job occasionally alongside my role at co-op. I took on this job as part of my journey to keep gaining as much experience as I possibly can in a variety of fields and to also learn a trade. My day to day life here would consist of working from 8am through to 5pm and supervising the unit whilst simultaneously dealing with any customers arriving and carrying out cleaning jobs on their vehicles. Whilst at the unit, I would also be the first on hand setting up for business in the morning and one of the last to stay behind to help tidy up in the evening. Some days each week I would be mobile with my manager going out to customers houses to carry out pre booked services. I was able to learn how to clean vehicles quickly and effectively whilst ensuring the customer is happy with the job achieved. I would either work on my own or in a small team and so I have experience in both sectors. Show less
