  Juneau Youth Services' mission is to provide effective services to homeless youth, and youth and families with Behavioral Health needs. Juneau Youth Services (JYS) is a comprehensive behavioral health provider for children and youth, and their families. JYS began operations in 1961 and currently provide a full array of emergency, residential, and community-based programs, including both mental health and chemical dependency services.   Transitioning from being the Alaska Children's Behavioral Specialist for nearly 7 years, I was promoted to serve as the Head of Treatment & Recovery for the Division of Behavioral Health, overseeing all grants, including those I have managed for those 7 years, related to Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders for the State of Alaska. I supervised staff in Juneau, Anchorage and Fairbanks who manage over 200 grants statewide that serve Alaskans of all ages with their Behavioral Health needs.

  I had the privilage of serving as the Children's Planning Director for the State of Alaska, Division of Behavioral Health. From Early Childhood Education to Transitional living....if it included Mental Health or Substance Abuse....it was on my agenda and I loved it! I had the privilege of traveling the state, being an integral of part expanding the Alaska Home and Community Based Grant Program as part of Bring the Kids Home, a legislative directive that sought to increase Home & Community Based Services in order to bring home and serve youth who had host orally been placed in out of state Psychiatric Residential Treatment.
