Worked on the development and application of multiscale molecular models as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Dr. Roland Faller and Dr. Gang-Yu Liu labs. This collaboration focused on understanding the physical processes that govern the assembly of bio-molecules and polymers in confined and complex liquid environments for nano-scale 3D printing and biotechnology applications. This work leveraged atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics (MD), lattice Boltzmann (LBM) fluid simulations, and multi-nonlinear differential equation solving to better understand polymers, small molecules, and phospholipid behavior. Additional collaborative work was performed as part of a multidisciplinary effort in applying computational insights into protein interactions. Specifically to Sars-CoV-2 protein interactions with human ACE2 receptors for therapeutic application, and glycosylated contributions in T-Cell Receptor MHC complex binding. This work included the generation of fully glycosylated protein models, steered molecular dynamics binding calculations, protein structure modification using modeller, and simulated protein structure characterization. Conducted research in the lab of Professor Stevin Gehrke. Project led by Dr. Erik Van Kampen. Research on the synthesis and characterization of natural and synthetic hydrogels for drug delivery applications. Synthesized pentenoate-functionalized hyaluronic acid hydrogels cross-linked using photocurable thiol-ene reactions of various formulations. Characterized through swelling analysis, mechanical analysis (DMA), UV-Vis Spectroscopy. Leadership role to train new undergraduate researchers in hydrogel synthesis and material property characterization techniques. Show less
