I met Brad Forsyth in November 2014 when he joined our student Digital Voice Xpert (DVX) programme. While he made a strong impression at interview, I did not quite realise how much he would grow and how much impact he would have on digital literacy and learner voice, not only at Epping Forest College, but also nationally. The Digital Voice Xpert scheme is a student/staff partnership programme that aims to drive learner experience improvement through technology while promoting and supporting digital literacy. (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/student-digital-voice-xpert-programme-efc-vikki-liogier) Brad was, from day one, an extremely enthusiastic and conscientious Digital Voice Xpert who took his cross-college role very seriously. He is self-motivated, creative, reliable and organised. Besides Brad’s contribution in raising the college digital and learner voice profile, he produced two video documentaries, tested digital tools, contributed to eLearning modules content development, and promoted digital literacy at College open days and events such as Safer Internet Days. He also participated in our MAD Digital Challenge #MADdigitalEFC - last December 2016 and his proposal was awarded as one of our two winning ideas at our Dragon’s Den event on January 25th. Brad went beyond the call of duty by agreeing to attend college outside of his timetable to help with the completion of pressing Digital Literacy and Voice tasks. He volunteered to be interviewed by Michael Yule, our Matrix Assessor, as well as by IT Circle to inform our 2020 Digital Strategy and as a member of our Digital Focus group, was our voice at the Board of Governors this last year. Likewise, Brad played a key digital ambassador role for Epping Forest College at external conferences and events such as: Jisc Change Agents' Network at the University of Lincoln in 2016 and again in April 2017 at the University of Exeter. He represented Learner Voice at DigiFest in Birmingham and was invited to attend the Gamification & Simulation Forum at the University of Westminster in June 2017. He also participated to ConnectMore17 Jisc event at Glyndwr University last July 4th and was the sole FE student representative at the Department for Education Stakeholders’ Group on the role of technology in education on July 14th. I also look forward to have Brad on my side again when contributing to the Inside Government's FELTAG 2017: Embracing Digital Technology in Further Education Forum on September 21st 2017 in London. As you can see, to say that Brad has been a committed and diligent member of the programme for the last three academic years is an under statement. He was awarded Best DVX of the year in 2016 and was one of three students nominated for our 2017 PRIDE Learner Award for Inspiring Others. I strongly recommend Brad to any future partner and/or employer.

Brad's hard work, determination and dedication has made him one of the best DVX's on the scheme at Epping Forest College, which has lead him to win many digitally enabled projects for that matter. His great team collaboration skills and endeavour has lead the team to become more innovative, engaging and has made DVX's drive digital literacy around the college. He is a great representative of the DVX team; he has shown how DVX's have supported staff and students to the members of JISC during DigiFest 2017 and CAN Project. He is an inspiration to other students to achieve anything in which they put their mind to, one of which have inspired me. He has been a fantastic DVX for the past three years, a great DVX to work with and he's legacy on the team will lead on I would highly recommend Brad to the media industry for that matter. Good luck Brad in your future pathways!

Production Office and Studio Runner (Work Placement)
-
Feb 2022 - Mar 2022
For Saturday Night Takeaway, I was a runner in the Production Office and Studio for the live show. VT's - I contributed to gag ideas, organising them in a table and researched images, searching through shutter-stock, adding these to an excel spreadsheet. EOTSS - I assisted with narrative, gags and set ideas for The End of the Show Show and researched live performances, music videos and set designs for reference material. Audience Hits - I came up with pranks, gags and questions for an upcoming segment and used the casting database to search for future potential hits. Audience Hit VT - I assisted in the filming of the audience hit VT 'The Masked Humdinger' for TX3 by performing the interview and dance whilst in costume as Bagpipes. I helped the costume department load their items on the truck at the end of the day. Studio Day 1 - I helped number confetti for a competition. To ensure it was fair, we had to have the exact same amount of confetti for each number. I kept a log for others to refer to and informed the rest of the team on our progress. I also went on lunch and dinner runs for cast and crew. Win the Ads - I helped come with some gags for prize mountain and researched interesting news for questions that could be used in the show. Ant vs Dec - I researched and collated information on various companies and I came up with potential game ideas, presenting these in a pitch deck. I was a games tester ensuring that technical elements for a game worked accordingly. Casting - I used the casing database to search for applicants who would be suitable for the happiest minute. Specials and Ob's- I researched and contributed ideas for a returning game and suitable locations for a future ob. Studio Day 2 - I was a stand in audience member for various audience hits during technical and dress rehearsals. In parts 3 and 4 of the live show, I was a seat filler. At the end of both studio days, I collected production paperwork left behind for recycling. Show less

For pre-production I assisted in the creation of DOOD sheets for actors, schedule and call sheet templates and proof reading scene headings so they were correctly organised by day, night, exterior and interior. For a portion of the shoot I was the on set 1st AD, working to keep cast and crew to time to ensure all scenes for the day were shot. I also answered any queries the actors had regarding the schedule and when they were due to be on set. Freelance Production Assistant

Sep 2021 - Jan 2022
For various internal client jobs, I worked across all stages of production. Pre-Production: I processed expenses for producers, logging their expenditures on Excel spreadsheets and attaching evidencing receipts. I liaised with talent to get their sizes, booked travel and accommodation for cast and crew. I have dealt with internal and external queries between the production, kit houses, hire houses, and casting agencies, talking with staff on the phone and via email to place and confirm orders. I also have been responsible for receiving freelance crew invoices and sending requests for PO’s to be raised, before then sending them back to the crew member. In addition I made and organised call sheets and COVID declaration forms. Production: I arranged hospitality orders and handed them out on set, made teas and coffees and fixed issues with presentations and videos when they would not play correctly. I also stood in for the actor so that the D.O.P could adjust the shot and lighting accordingly. I have performed logging, taking edit and continuity notes for each take. In addition to this I would source and collect props. Post Production: I have transcribed and time coded audio files of interviews and edited subtitles for the final edit to be signed off by the client. Show less

I also took photos of actors in the T-Shot position for work in post-production. Due to the 1st AD not being available on set, I ended up being 2nd to director Scott Jeffrey as I had the schedule and script to hand and alerted the crew how long left we had on each scene before having to move on. I worked as a freelance 1st AD on Peter Duncan’s feature film, Cinderella, which required strong communications skills and the ability to work both independently and part of a team to tight deadlines. Under a time, sensitive schedule, I organised a master props document in Word that the crew would refer to. I also logged takes, communicating with the directors, camera, and sound department to note their preferences. I used my leadership and communication skills to ensure cast and crew were in the right place at the right time and informed them of the correct running schedule so when it came to turning over, they were prepared. Oct 2019 - Jun 2021
After stepping in during my first year of university as an interim student representative, I was voted in to continue the role into the 2nd and 3rd year. During the first year, I helped settle a number of queries and problems by talking face to face with staff and students alike, compiling reports, and sending emails. This work secured me in getting the role of the new academic year. During the second year, using social media, emails, and our internal communications, I kept students up to date with the latest developments in terms of what changes were being made based on student comments. I also arranged frequent meetings as lectures shifted online so that student concerns of not having the same level of teaching could be addressed. During the third academic year I was re-elected and had multiple meetings with the rest of the rep team, university management and course leaders to work out the best course of action for our course to continue during COVID and raising student concerns due to dissertation grading. In addition, I helped in getting students extended access to online services such as Adobe and Google Drive for six months after we completed the course due to delays in our course caused by COVID. I was a script supervisor for Falkland Square. I would sit at video village with the director, keeping an eye on continuity and analyzing the script to see where actors made dialogue changes. I would also note the director's preferred take. I was a script supervisor for Falkland Square. Personal Assistant to Calum Best/ Camera Trainee/ Runner/ Extra
-
Aug 2016 - Aug 2016
I started out as Personal Assistant to Calum Best where I would run errands on his request. At times where he did not need anything, I would help set up the next scene, gather props and communicate with each department so that people knew what was happening next. For the last two weeks of the shoot, I moved up to Camera Trainee. This was a fantastic role to take on as it taught me more about the factors however small that must be considered before rolling. My job was to ensure that the batteries of the Arri Amira or the monitor were kept charged and did not run out. Additionally, I helped transport the camera kit for the next set up. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm8536171/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t71 Show less
