Pattern Maker
-
Sep 2022 - Present
My role is to oversee jobs within the Patternshop, completing all jobs on time and within budget. I delegate work to apprentices that is appropriate to their skillset to balance out the workload of the shop. In addition to this, I would be communicating with project managers/engineers and clients to come up with the best ways to complete the task at hand. I also:• Create and manage the CNC schedule to make sure all upcoming jobs are logged, so we know what needs to go onto the machine and when.• Creating Training matrix for the CNC machine and logging gaps in everyone’s learning; from this I can see where to train them further.• Assisting in quotations for the Patternshop to clients/ sales team to determine the cost of hours and materials per job.

Trainee Pattern Maker
-
Sep 2019 - Present
During my trainee phase we hired four apprentices; I spent a lot of time with them teaching them what I had learned through my apprenticeship as passing knowledge is very important when working in a team. During this time, we also got a new 5-axis CNC machine, so I was trained to program and manufacture complex tooling/boat fenders. I oversaw:• Supervising apprentices’ college work such as marking and assisting with job packs and unit questions.• Creating Job cards to log hours and material used per job, then using this information to help me book the stock to each job at the end on the month.• Being trusted to complete more jobs without assistance and taking charge where possible.

Apprentice Pattern Maker
-
Sep 2016 - Sep 2019
During my apprenticeship I spent a lot of time shadowing and learning from skilled patternmakers/ engineers, being introduced to lots of machinery and hand tools; over the three years I gained a lot of confidence with them. I was also given responsibilities such as:• Ordering stock to replenish anything used on jobs then booking the stock used to make sure it is taken from the budget.• Completing the Patternshop’s timesheets each week and making sure the hours are logged correctly.
