Head of Funding and Liquidity
-
Jan 2007 - Nov 2019
The AOFM is the Australian Government's debt manager. I lead the Funding and Liquidity team (basically the AOFM's dealing desk). The team's work includes: • Market liaison – regular contact with market-makers and investors in Treasury Bonds and Treasury Indexed Bonds (TIBs) to inform decisions on issuance plans. • Strategy relating to new lines • Working with arrangers of syndicated bond deals • Strategy and execution for buybacks and switch tenders • Meetings, presentations and group discussions with investors, in Australian and offshore. • Investment of surplus funds, including in semi-government bonds, supranationals and NCDs • Repo of assets • Documentation and other legal arrangements, including negotiating GMRAs • Representing the AOFM on various AFMA committees Show less

I was a invited to be a member of the FSI ("the Murray Inquiry") secretariat. This unique experience enhanced the breadth of my knowledge of issues across the financial system, particularly in superannuation, which was my focus. It involved extensive consultation with stakeholders, policy development and report drafting within tight deadlines. The FSI final report is available at http://fsi.gov.au/ I was a invited to be a member of the FSI ("the Murray Inquiry") secretariat.
