Think, Design, Innovate See out first product, Motus. http://www.motus-3d.com In this role I have carried Motus from concept, through multiple design iterations, including both the overall design, internal circuit boards and embedded C code, into its current prototype stage. Along the way I've hired several developers to assist in the firmware and software portions of the product, secured a grant to continue development, hand assembled multiple prototypes, developed marketing plans and built a supplier network.

Packaging Engineer
-
Dec 2007 - Nov 2009
Provided packaging design and project management for the GMT 17X (2010 Chevy Equinox, and 2010 GMC Terrain) launch at Cami Automotive. Managed and designed packaging for IP (instrument panel) and Powertrain assembly components for the 17X launch. In addition to my focus of responsibility I also: acted as design support for other large impact projects, developed and improved packaging guild lines and best practices, designed the CAMI standard rack base, and created SolidWorks template for vendor use of the standard bases. All project launched on-time and within original budget.

Packaging Designer
-
May 2005 - Nov 2007
Designed a variety of industrial packaging from paper and plastic dividers to complex steel racks. I designed from concept through to complete production dozens, if not hundreds, of different steel racks. Designs had to account for: ergonomic, lineside constraints, access for lift assists or robotic interactions, and simplicity of manufacturing often with stock material only, all while offering optimum part protection and packaging density. My designs used a variety of material and processes, but were primarily welded steel tube, flat bar and plate, as well as laser cutting, machining, and aluminum extrusions. I had many great successes in this roles, such as: rethinking how space could be utilize to save a customer over $6 million during the life of a program, developing a fleet of WIP (work in progress) racks that interfaced with multiple fully robotic cells, and being the single designer for the number 1 and 2 customers by volume in a single year. standardizing the rack style at CAMI automotive while creating SolidWorks templates for these designs, and participating on a vehicle launch team that was able to successfully launch all packaging (several hundred components) on-time and within the original budget.
