  I started working as a vacation work student on the 9th to the 27th of January 2023 at Absa Life, recuited by ASABA. I was placed in the pricing team where I met with various actuarial graduates, managers and the head of the team. I learnt how to create a monthly premium calculator as well as doing a PIT analysis from systems. I was also briefly introduced to the valuations and product development teams. As the vac work students, we were tasked with two research assignments: 1. Study policy of Absa Life and how it can be improved to benefit both the student and company a well as aligning with the ASSA requirements 2. Mortality Loading for long term inclusion in life insurance in the event of future pandemics and whether the loading will still be appropriate in the future. Show less
