‘Strategist’ is too narrow a title for Bob. Don’t get me wrong, he absolutely delivers on strategy in all the ways you want - he pushes the status quo through evidence, and it’s inspiring yet pragmatic. What sets him apart is the way that he works. His combined experience of consultancy and in-house really shines through. He happily pivots and adapts as new things come up - either from insight or the client. He thinks of the product holistically - not just the strategy - but the execution and delivery too. Plus he’s so calm and collected which keeps us all focused and on track (including the client!). In all honesty I’m he has taken a permanent position - please go back to freelancing Bob!

I had the pleasure of bringing Bob into DS early in 2022. What struck me from my early conversations with him was the diversity of his skillset and thinking - he's not your typical 'brand strategist' who is bound by our industry's ways of doing things. His capability and experience is much broader and richer, meaning he can quickly adapt to any challenge you throw his way - be that pure brand strategy, digital strategy, business/commercial strategy or cultural engagement. His background working in industry is also invaluable as he has first-hand experience of knowing how to make things stick within a business. Something so often lacking in this industry. In his time at DS he also took a very considered approach to the building and development of his team, challenging each of them to expand their own skillsets and be exposed to new ways of thinking through training and on the job mentoring. This philosophy wasn't only applied to his direct reports, but to senior teams across the business more broadly. As well as all of this, Bob's just a great guy who brings energy and optimism to all that he does... and possibly one or two dad jokes.
