Practice Experience•Handled the probate of an estate with combined assets in excess of $16 Million, including multiple closely-held family businesses; gathered and valued estate assets; worked with the surviving spouse to fund the credit shelter trust using marital exchanges most advantageous for ongoing family estate planning and minimizing federal estate and income taxes for the estate and the surviving family.•Prepared comprehensive estate plans for owners of closely-held business valued at over $11 million, and, after death of one owner, assisted surviving family with probate of estate estimated at more than $6 million; negotiated with appraisers to obtain most advantageous values for estate assets, including company stock and real estate; devised tax-efficient method to transfer estate assets to owner's heirs, while assisting them in setting up their own estate plans and arranging their financial affairs to secure ongoing tax benefits.
