Spectra Quest manufacturers vibration training simulators for universities and R&D departments in industry. We manufacture most all of the steel and aluminum parts in our own machine shop and then assemble them for shipment around the world. Over half our sales are exported. I am responsible for the day to day operations of the company. I supervise approximately 20 employees from office manager to purchasing to production. Hankins & Johann, Inc. manufactured window systems for commercial construction projects, primarily up and down the east coast. Our products were primarily made of aluminum and about 50% of our projects were anodized for aesthetics and protection in our own 27' x 120' anodizing line. We, also, had excess anodizing capacity and contracted with manufacturers and aluminum extruders to anodize their parts. I managed the financial and production side of the business. My partner managed the sales and engineering side. Our plant was 50,000 sf under roof and had over $2.5 million of fabrication machinery and anodizing equipment. On the financial side I managed our banking, insurance, 401-k, accounting and financial statements. On the production side I managed three department heads with approximately ten employees each. I was responsible for our overall OSHA and VA DEQ compliance. I'm well versed in safety programs in a manufacturing environment and was on the floor for all OSHA inspections. I'm, also, experienced in permitting requirements, both startup and on-going, with VA DEQ, including storm water and wastewater. We had our own drafting and design department and we took the architect's drawings of our projects and made shop drawings for our manufacturing department. I consulted with the designers to insure existing fabrication machines could perform the required steps and when necessary designed new machines or tooling. I was responsible for both facility and machinery maintenance. I'm well trained in facility electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and heating/cooling. Show less
