      Career Bio: Robert Brooks Bob Brooks is currently a Principal for American Capital, a Private Equity Company with a BDE format. American Capital (Nasdaq: ACAS), with $18 billion in capital resources under management, is a publicly traded private equity firm and global asset manager. American Capital, both directly and through its global asset management business, originates, underwrites and manages investments in middle market private equity, leveraged finance, real estate and structured products. Bob’s primary responsibilities are to work with ACAS portfolio companies and their BODs to identify and execute strategies and tactics that deliver profitable growth and increased value for their shareholders, customers, and employees. He deals with a wide range of Middle Market companies with products and technologies ranging from airplanes, confectionaries, and mattresses, to kayaks, plant containers, nut butters, and pedicure spas. Prior to joining ACAS, Bob was a Corporate Officer and Group Vice President for Handy & Harman, a wholly owned subsidiary of WHX Corporation (WHX NYSE). While at H&H, he served as a Group Executive for several of the H&H business segments, and as VP of Strategy and Development. Before coming to WHX, Bob was a Corporate Officer and VP Manufacturing for General Signal Corporation (GSC NYSE), a $2.2B diversified industrial products company. He was responsible for operational due diligence and integration of the corporation’s “bolt on” acquisition program, as well as for corporate-wide productivity and continuous improvement. Preceding his GSX corporate position, Bob served in GM, and SVP roles in multiple strategic business units in GSX where he was directly responsible for Operations, R&D, Global Supply Chain Operations, and P&L performance. Bob also worked for Union Carbide Corporation earlier in his career. In addition, he served six years with the US Army Corp. of Engineers. Bob received BS degree from the University of Maine.
