      I am a utility inspector for Piedmont Natural Gas out of North Carolina. I have inspected over ditching, excavating, HDD bores, frac outs, hot digs, tie-ins, coating, cathodic protection, cleanup, stringing, seeding and some environmental procedures. Fill out daily reports, and have inspected over multiple crews at one time, numerous times with no problems. Inspects materials and quality of work of pipeline construction for conformance to specifications. Examines bottom of trench for rocks or other hard objects that might damage pipe coatings. Observes coating and wrapping of pipe or pipe joints for conformance to specifications and verifies accuracy of coating by observing or conducting electrical tests for holidays. Advises supervisor regarding corrections to be made. Ability to maintain good working relations with the public and enforce all necessary regulations. Ability to multitask and prioritize the work to meet the deadlines. Ability to read and interpret the technical drawings related to construction. Profound knowledge of various utility construction methods and techniques. Maintain proper documentation of all the inspection work carried and the copies of the various permits issued. Verifies depth and alignment of trenches, using tape measure. Show less
