My role at Rezatec has two key aspects. Firstly, as the CSM for forestry, I lead on service delivery to Rezatec’s international forestry customer base. My key responsibilities are as follows. - Acting as the customer’s main technical point of contact. - Provision of specialist support with data interpretation and analysis. - Project management of delivery work. Secondly, as Rezatec’s in house forestry specialist, I provide domain knowledge support across the business, including: - Contributions to pre-sales engagement with prospects, including sales calls and proposal documents. - Delivery of forestry webinars and input into marketing activities. - Key contributions to product development plans and other forestry pod activities. In addition, I contribute to technical aspects of delivery work, as required, particularly on non-standard/bespoke projects. This includes: - Exploratory analysis and pre-processing of inventory data using python and pandas. - Training and application of supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, using EO data and other data sources. - Post-processing and QA of data products in GIS.

Forest Manager

At Tilhill, I managed large-scale commercial forest properties on behalf of investment clients in South West Scotland. I also developed a strong specialisation in the use of emerging technologies, working closely with Tilhill's in house survey team on GIS projects, and helping to develop the company's drone survey offering.Key responsibilities:- Day to day management of forest properties, including preparation of multi-year client estimates and cash flows.- Planning and delivery of extensive restocking programs and subsequent crop maintenance.- Maintaining forest inventory data: instructing and carrying out mensuration using 'blue-book' methods.- Marketing of standing timber and supervision of clearfell operations.- Management and supervision of sub-contractors.- Production of long-term forest plans and compliance with UKWAS, including the hosting of audits.- Provision of training and support to forest management colleagues, particularly with regard to GIS and digital mapping.- Business development and management of client relationships.Key achievements:- Winner of inter-organisation 'Dragons Den' competition, where I presented a data science solution which assists managers with FGS applications.- Development of GIS data migration workflows ahead of the adoption of a new GIS system.- Promotion of drone use within the company and wider industry. This included the development of new mensuration techniques, delivery of webinars and authorship of a Scottish Forestry Journal article.

Little Gate Farm is a working farm and woodland, run as a charity helping learning disabled adults in Hastings and Rother to access employment. My role at the farm was to work alongside the woodland team managing the site. This included restoring the neglected coppice cycle, processing and marketing firewood, and constructing roundwood timber framed buildings. I also contributed to several funding applications and administered the farms Basic Payment Scheme applications.
