As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) I provide high volume low intensity interventions to clients suffering with mild to severe depression and various anxiety disorders and phobias. I am trained to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self management interventions to service to the client's needs and requirements. I have the opportunity to work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages and use interpreters where necessary. I provide as much support as I can especially those individuals in difficult situations, those who appear distressed and including those who need emergency attention. A part of my role involves assessing clients as they enter our service by undertaking patient – centred interviews, identifying areas where a person wishes to see change and or recovery and making an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. If suitable and I am able to accommodate to their need I will take on the client onto my own case load providing them with up to 6 weeks treatment using CBT interventions either face to face or on the telephone. I have also been trained in utilising online CBT programmes also to help my clients. I work closely with other members of my team to ensure we are providing an appropriate stepped care service and adhering to all protocols. I also have become a lead facilitator of a group programme we run in service called Feel Well Live Well programme that is a psycho-educational programme teaching a group of 6 people plus about mental health problems, how to cope with issues that arise, helping them return to work, sleep better, challenge thoughts and change behaviour. A major part of my role is to assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process. My role is also heavily involved in administration and keeping up with standards of data quality when typing up case notes or sending out letters to both patient and GP or other medical professionals.
