At Engineering System Solutions, I am responsible for completing electrical calculations and creating documents for various commercial (office space, retail, etc – small percentage of projects), industrial (bulk material handling – this is mostly what we do) and civil projects (water and waste-water facilities). The electrical engineering we do is power systems design, including some medium-voltage (15kV) but mostly low-voltage (480/277VAC & 208/120VAC) systems. The designs I’m involved in include lighting and power distribution, controls and automation, as well as grounding, bonding and lightning protection. With these designs, I generate panel and equipment connection schedules as well as power one-line diagrams. Show less

At Knife River, I am responsible for reading, interpreting, and implementing delivered civil engineering drawings for private and public utility projects. Using these civil drawings and survey points throughout a job-site, I perform calculations needed to properly install sewer, water, storm, and electrical systems. I am responsible for solving real world problems that contradict what is shown on delivered construction drawings to ensure a proper install. When it comes to the installation process, my job will vary between physically installing pipe/conduit to running heavy equipment including excavators and front-end loaders to leading crews.
