  • What is Love
    • Santa Barbara, California Area
    • WIL Program Manager; Educator/Intern
      • Oct 2014 - Jun 2016

What is Love is a non-profit based out of Santa Barbara, CA. The organization focuses on educating teens, parents, and the community about dating violence and prevention. My first year interning with WIL was spent as an educator. I worked in two of the local high schools administering six week workshops with at risk students ages 14-18. My second year with WIL I spent time as the Program Manager. I organized intern training and intern recruitment for 30 new interns in the 2015-2016 school year. I was responsible for tracking and logging attendance for What is Love outreach events, recording intern supervision, tracking students of concern, and notetaking at every intern supervision through the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. In addition, WIL was partnered with UCSB so I acted as the liaison between the What is Love organization and the research team at UCSB to ensure that the program ran effectively. Show less

  • Dr. Jimerson's Power of Play
    • Santa Barbara, California Area
    • Playground Specialist/Co-Captain.
      • Aug 2014 - Jun 2016

The Power of Play project focuses on the utility of specific playground strategies targeted to facilitate prosocial play activities and the development of conflict resolution and problem solving skills among elementary-aged children. While there, I engaged with 60 students at Isla Vista Elementary weekly to encourage social, cognitive, and emotional competence. I utilized cutting edge research based concepts to facilitate effective problem solving across all elementary grades, affecting 500 students. In addition, I took field observations and discussed my findings during supervision amongst other playground specialists. As a captain my second year in the program, I helped integrate new playground specialists to the IV Elementary climate. My fellow captains met an extra hour each week to discuss ways to better the program and help our younger counterparts. Show less
