Freelance work has always been part of my experience as a graphic designer. It became the more significant part of my experience as a designer after losing my job at Royce Apparel during the tremendous financial recovery. My primary job for several years was in healthcare sales and service. In 2020, I decided that my side gig could become more. I created a brand based on my passion for design and personal values, which became Ladle Creative. Branding myself has helped me focus on my goals and growth as a designer. From learning new tools and streamlining my design process, I am learning to be better at my craft and expanding my skills through Ladle Creative. Getting hired right out of college by Royce Apparel was exciting and a great learning experience. As a production designer, I worked with up to fifty collegiate licenses to design apparel for the company’s collegiate fashion label Pressbox. I created screen printing, embroidery, and appliqué designs for manufactured clothing with input and required objectives from multiple stakeholders. Stakeholders included buyers from big box stores like Belk or Finish Line and small independent stores. Other stakeholders included the license holders and managers.
