As the project manager of an EU Horizon 2020 project I am responsible for reporting and communicating with different representatives from the European Commission, and for aligning research interests with exploitation interests, due to the nature of the project. Within WoodK+, the competence center of wood and wood-based products in Austria, I was responsible for the calculation and interpretation of the water footprints of textile fibres made out of cotton and wood, to analyse the sustainability of their production in different countries. Among others, this included: - Calculation and interpretation of water footprints of fibre from beech, spruce, eucalyptus and cotton according to different methods (Life Cycle Assessment, International Standardization Organization, Water Footprint Network, Eco-Factor). - Collection and organization of information on water use, growing patterns, production cycles, harvest cycles, etc. of beech, spruce, eucalyptus and cotton by using MS Excel, GIS and Google Earth. - Modelling yield, growing patterns and water use of forest products based on methods from agro- /forestry economics and hydro-meteorology. - Close collaboration and communication with industry partners and stakeholders.
