Bird&Bee Visual Art & Sculpture Commissions; Distinctive Sharrow, Signage Commission.Budget: £25,000The project brief was to create a sign that gives Sharrow a sense of community and, in some way, defines the boundary. We split the project into two phases, community consultation anddesign and build. The first phase has been a great success throughout this summer. Kicking off with the Sharrow Lantern Festival we produced 16 solar powered letter lanterns that spelt out `WELCOME TO SHARROW' and the `Word on the Street', was born. We then used these letters to make anagrams and new words that were particularly poignant to landmarks and key areas within the Sharrow ward. We installed these illuminated words in a number of locations over the summer for all to see, including the spire of Highfields Church, treetops in Cemetery Park and the new build on Napier St....more Show less
