I met Biraj three years ago when I moved back to Kathmandu after a long absence from Nepal. When I explored the state of accounting profession, I noticed that the ACCA had grown significantly in Nepal, and that Biraj was the International Assembly member from Nepal. I started participating in the professional meetings, including CPD events, and also volunteered to give some CPD lectures. During this period, I noticed Biraj's enthusiasm and commitment for the strengthening of the profession, not only for ACCA, but also for other qualified accountants. During this period, when IFRS was being implemented in Nepal, both in the private sector and public sector, Biraj was instrumental in bringing in the expertise to Nepal to provide professional training to professional accountants. He himself has developed certain level of expertise on IFRS matters. I observed his leadership in persuading members towards the achievement of common goals, his low-key still persistent efforts towards the achievement of objectives, and his friendly demeanor.
