Sociology department of South Asian University undertook a one-month ethnographic research on, ‘Changing Labour Processes and the Life of the Worker’ in the city of Delhi, India. The research was conducted under the project titled, ‘Critical Knowledge’s and Emancipative Pedagogies: Courses in Marxist Social and Economic Theory and Curriculum Building’. The project was sanctioned by M/s Rosa – Luxemberg – Stiftung – Gesellschaftanalyse and Politische Building e.V, Berlin, Germany. The ethnographic research aimed to study different social groups in Delhi to map the altering /altered labour processes in the current phase of capitalism. As a researcher in project, my key responsibilities were: To conduct field study on the life and labour of security guards in Delhi. To submit two case studies on security guards; one permanent and one temporary guard. To analyse the case studies, including the state policies pertaining to the security industry in India. Show less
