I have had the pleasure of working with Will during his time at Aerohive. As QA Manager overseeing the release process for wireless networking apps, Will led an amazing team by being knowledgeable, accessible and collaborative. I was impressed by Will’s ability to find a creative solution to managing accelerated release cycles. He involved co-workers from numerous departments, and sought input to make the plan even better. Will would be a true asset to any organization, and I hope to work with him again in the future!

I had the wonderful experience of working with Billy on a challenging long-term project that pushed us to the limits on many occasions. Knowing that Billy was always available to contribute innovative solutions or just bounce around ideas about how to approach a problem was a a huge relief. Billy is one of the smartest people I've ever met and he's never afraid to challenge the status-quo. If there is a more elegant or more efficient way to do something, he will find it. In addition to his technical and business prowess, Billy is an extremely interesting person. His varied experience and unique perspective on many topics will enrich and challenge your own views and push you to become better at your craft. I've said multiple times that he should write a book because I know that I would read it, even if it wasn't technology related. I trust Billy to always deliver the best quality and exceed expectations on any project, and I look forward to the next time we have the opportunity to work together.

This is a customer facing role in which I am responsible for the technical aspects of the project from pre-sale through project close. As PriceFx is a relatively small company, I must wear many hats. While architecting and helping to develop the solution is constant, I also sometimes serve as scrum master and/or business analyst. Pricing Software is the nature of the business and the primary technologies used are PostgreSQL, MySQL, Groovy, IntelliJ and Git. At Mentor Graphics I served as an architect, software developer, and mentor. Our main project was a piece of software that allowed for collaboration on large electrical schematics. I also headed up the Continuous Integration effort and helped to architect a system that reduced time to go live from weeks to hours. Primary technologies used were Java, JBoss, Spring, AWS, GoCD, SQL, IntelliJ, Vagrant, Gradle, and SVN. At Mentor Graphics I served as an architect, software developer, and mentor. Worked with a major telecom to help develop a big data backend for their billing system. Throughout the system, I actively developed using the following technologies: Java, Kafka, Mongo, HTML/CSS, JQuery, SQL, MySQL, Chef/Ruby, Grafana, Prometheus, and Kong API Manager. Additionally, I've taken on the role of scrum master for the team, leading daily stand-ups and working with product owners to prioritize backlogs. I started at Aerohive working with the Big Data team developing in Java, Scala, and Spark. However, after seeing issues with quality, I requested to be moved to the QA department, where I managed a geographically distributed team of six and coordinated with an international team of more than 30. During my tenure, my team increased automated testing coverage from 25% to 75%, improved our reporting and process standards by more efficiently using tools such as Jira and Confluence, combined the… Show more I started at Aerohive working with the Big Data team developing in Java, Scala, and Spark. As founder and CEO, I formed my own business entity, led sales initiatives, wrote SOWs, partnered with the firms of Red Hat and Nova Ordis, and billed myself out directly to clients. Our two primary projects were a legacy middleware migration effort in Los Angeles, CA and a back-end development effort in Portland, OR. These efforts were with Universal Music Group and Nike, respectively. As one of two PSU architects, I led efforts to upgrade PSU’s internal degree audit system from COBOL to Java. I was also involved in efforts to implement an RBAC system in Grails and upgrade the de facto business document processing toolset. It was during my time at Red Hat that I blossomed as a technology professional. I started out as a consulting developer, becoming proficient in Java, SQL, HTML, Javascript, Ruby, Perl, Groovy, and various other languages. As I became more proficient, I started to tech lead projects, then PM projects and finally I began architecting projects and working directly with sales to develop SOWs for clients. This was an amazing first post-university job. I had the opportunity to work directly with the CEO and the Director of Business Development to identify, contact, and analyze acquisition candidates. I also led the company's ITAR initiative. This was an amazing first post-university job.
