I had the pleasure of working with Bill for about eight years at UserWorks. He's an exceptional user researcher/designer, and one of the most talented and competent managers I've ever interacted with. Bill has an enormous wealth of knowledge in the fields of usability engineering, UX, and user-centered design. What's more, he's always happy to share that knowledge with anyone interested in learning. On top of that, he's a natural mentor and leader who always brings the best out of his team. Bill and I worked on a large number of projects together dealing with a variety of product types, and whether it was a website, document, or medical device, Bill always seemed to be right at home. He has a special knack for interfacing with clients, then identifying and addressing their needs. To that end, Bill is fantastic at synthesizing multiple sources of information in order to plan a cohesive technical approach to any project. I routinely saw him handle staffing, tooling, analysis, and reporting, all without missing a beat. Bill's genuine passion for user experience is inspiring, and his intuitive sense for good design is tough to beat. Any team looking for a fantastic UX leader and/or strategist would be lucky to have Bill in their corner

I had the pleasure of having Bill as my supervisor during my tenure at UserWorks. He is without question one of the most knowledgeable UX professionals I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He excelled at taking abstract or incomplete descriptions of usability problems, and developing concrete and comprehensive approaches which satisfied our client’s needs, both stated and implied. Working with Bill, you will also notice and appreciate his thoroughness and attention to detail, as he is able to direct and plan for every aspect of a design project. From the technical approach, to the tools implemented, the data analysis methods used, and the structure of the presentation, he has given all of it careful consideration. As a supervisor and a leader, Bill makes the contributions of even the most junior and inexperienced members of the team feel valued and welcomed (I should know, as I was once that person). He encourages you to think outside the box, pushes you to your fullest potential, and gives you plenty of opportunities to grow as a professional. Under Bill’s supervision, I feel like I’ve improved not just my UX skills, but also my understanding of business practice and how to effectively work with different types of clients. I really enjoyed working with Bill and hope that I get the chance to do so again someday.
