    • +HOME Food Volunteer
      • Mar 2020 - Jun 2020

During the Coronavirus pandemic I have been volunteering for +HOME who have been cooking 100 meals and baking treats 4 times per week for the NHS staff at Homerton Hospital, and delivering them to the staff at 4.30pm each day. This role has taught me how to work under pressure in order tocook/ bake the food in time to deliver to Homerton each day. It has further harnessed my team working skills as only 4 people are allowed to prep/cook together due to social distancing. Therefore, we have to work exceptionally well as a team and listen to each other in order to achieve our goals on time.

    • Bar Tender
      • Jul 2018 - Sep 2018

Being a bar tender I learned how to deal with heavy demands when the bar was very busy, which was often due to the football world cup being on and it was a new bar. As this was a pop-up bar, I often had to use my creativity to solve problems and find solutions within the space as all of the bar functions had not yet been established. For example creating a nicely designed menu with all of the beverages and cocktails on it. I developed my communication skills not only amongst bar staff to ensure a fun but efficient working environment but also with customers, learning how to deal with customers’ needs and communicate with difficult customers.

    • Merchandise Designer for the Leeds Snowriders Snowsports Society
      • Sep 2016 - Aug 2017

As the merchandise designer for Leeds Snowriders I created numerous designs and logos for t-shirts, hoodies, hats, sunglasses, booklets, posters and lanyards. This process has made me very fluent in photoshop and gave me the opportunity to express my creativity. As a representative for one of the largest University societies in the UK, I learned to be a very approachable and encouraging individual, and therefore I have developed very good social skills. My communication skills within a professional context have also been strengthened as my job entailed contacting different production companies to manufacture our merchandise. Doing this has given me good insight into the manufacturing process as I needed to ensure the items could be produced on mass and in time for the 1000’s of students who come on our ski trips. I have learned to be very efficient with my time, as our extremely busy schedule of events, socials and competitions every week required me to have very good time management in order to stay on top of my workload. This position demanded a lot of organisational skills in order to create the designs and merchandise in time for each event. It also required you to feel comfortable organising people when on trips and at events. This role requires creative skills and commercial awareness. My team-working skills flourished through being on this committee as we strongly relied on and supported each other.

    • Art Teacher and Camp Counsellor at Camp Wekeela
      • Jun 2015 - Sep 2015

This was a multifaceted job from which I gained many skills, including a lot of self confidence in my ability to travel alone and adapt to new environments and situations. This job entailed caring for children aged 6-16yrs, 24 hours a day and thus this intense environment gave me invaluable communication skills, both with the children and my co-workers. My skills were acknowledged through an award that I was given by my boss. As well as being a general counsellor, I also taught art, which required leadership skills, the ability to plan ahead lessons and to inspire and motivate children creatively. It also required creative knowledge and the ability to come up with projects for the children to work on e.g. teaching tie dye. Team-work skills were crucial for this job as there was a much larger camper to counsellor ratio and thus we all had to cooperate and be flexible in order to keep the camp running smoothly.

    • Intern on the Mother-Child Unit
      • Aug 2014 - Aug 2014

During my one month’s internship on the Mother-Child Unit at the Charite Hospital in Berlin I shadowed nurses and doctors, assisting them with their daily room rounds and observing their practices such as delivering ECT. This internship gave me a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience of how to interact with individuals suffering from psychiatric disorders including postpartum depression and psychosis as well as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders (e.g. borderline personality disorder) and post-traumatic stress disorder. This experience has given me great confidence in my ability to communicate and engage with vulnerable individuals. This internship was in Berlin, which consolidated my German skills to be truly bilingual whilst enriching my vocabulary with new subject-specific words. Due to the nature of this internship, I frequently had to utilise creative problem-solving skills as well as personal initiative, to overcome any issues in the most effective and sensible way within this sensitive environment.
