Having taught with Bill for four years, I know that he is a true professional who is deeply committed to his livelihood. He is creative, empathetic, intelligent, and a natural leader. I have worked in collaboration with Bill on engaging students’ learning in cross-curricular units thus, I can attest to how personally committed he is to the development of each student. He prefers a more student-centered instructional approach. By using the research process, uncovering facts in primary sources, by visiting to the Gettysburg battle fields, historic Philadelphia, the Constitution Center, and the Museum of Natural History, his students become engaged in their own learning and take away life experiences. He conveys his knowledge and excitement to the students in ways that most schools are not fortunate to have. He was also one of our most technologically savvy teachers. He utilized Web 2.0 capacities within the classroom, aiding the students in creating wikis and podcasts as the final products of their learning on World War II as an example; he uses the Smart Board to its fullest potential as a daily teaching strategy; and he was instrumental in bringing the E-Mission learning opportunity our 8th grade student population. Based on its success, it has remained a continued part of our curriculum. Additionally, Bill went on to co-present this topic at a technology conference along side our Technology department head. This further shows how collaborative he is with his colleagues. Last year, he presented again on a robotics offering he taught at our school. Both teaching and learning are life-long endeavors for this creative professional. He truly enjoys working with young adults and is, indeed, inspiring.
