Bill has an abundance of SAS experience gained over many years working in the industry. Alongside his brilliant technical skills, he also has an in-depth understanding of business, particularly in Financial Services. He excels in roles where these combined skills can be fully utilised, making him one of the most sought after SAS Consultants in todays market.

My role involved working within Customer Interaction and Management team, delivering direct mailing files via email, Direct Mail and Statement Channels. These files were done for a variety of reasons, some regulatory (GDPR, PSD2), NPS surveys via SMS/email, Notices of Variation for changes to terms and conditions etc. The various different channels required working with external vendors on file specifications and content. As a lot of the data was based on address/email address/mobile number a large amount of data cleansing was performed to ensure the correct details were used. Once this had been performed then the customers GDPR, marketing consent and paperless preferences had to be incorporated. Random sampling was then used to generate test print runs and these were then proofed against the data to ensure accuracy. The development environment was SAS Enterprise Guide v7.1 on a Unix Grid platform. The data was held in SAS libraries, SPDS libraries and the wider groups EDW big data platform. Show less

Working as part of a team on a large migration project, redeveloping over 700 SAS programs to extract data from a new corporate data warehouse rather than legacy systems. This entailed detailed data mapping to map old to new data attributes, developing the new programs and regression testing. At times it was necessary to explain the differences between the old and new data sources as certain results could not be duplicated. This code migration was delivered using SAS Enterprise Guide, with the data sources held in Oracle and SQL server databases along with various formats of flat files. Show less

Automate the production of customer centric operational MI to move it from excel to SAS. As part of this I developed a suite of SAS programs to produce Deming Shewart control charts and highlight when the processes were out of control. I rolled out these processes in several different business areas including secured lending and group insurance. Delivery lead responsible for SAS delivery within 2 of the regulatory reporting stream (FDSF and Corep Liquidity). As such I am responsible for assigning work to SAS developers within the development pool, prioritising their work, analysing new requirements, coordinating the regulatory submissions with the business areas responsible and dealing with queries raised internally and by the PRA. A large portion of the work revolves around rebuilding the reporting work streams to use the Finance Common Data Layer. This ongoing as new data is added to the common data layer to replace the existing data sources. This helps ensure consistency of data for all reg reporting programs. Show less
