After over 30 years in the fire and emergency services I know the importance of protecting our most valuable asset, our firefighters. The risk of a firefighter getting cancer is much greater than that of the general public. Our firefighters are exposed to more toxic substances today than ever before. The State of CT recently passed a cancer bill that will help firefighters that are effected by cancer. Departments all over the country are adopting gross decon of PPE at the fire scene before returning to the station. NFPA 1851 covers the inspection and cleaning of PPE. Proper handling and cleaning of PPE is critical not only to our firefighters but also anyone who may come in contact with contaminated gear. I recently retired from the Hamden Fire Department as a Battalion Chief after 28+ years of service. I am proud to announce I am now working with STN Laundry Systems to help fire and emergency service professionals choose the proper equipment for cleaning your PPE. STN has the right equipment that meets the NFPA 1851 standard and manufacturers recommendations. Older washers have a high G force that can damage your gear, reducing its' service life and putting our firefighters at risk. STN Laundry Systems is a family owned, CT based business that has been around for over 15 years. They provide everything from sales, installation, maintenance and repairs. We also work with Ecolab to provide chemical injection systems. So whether you are looking to purchase new equipment, replace old equipment or would like us to provide maintenance or repairs on your current equipment please feel free to give me a call. AFG Grants can also be used to purchase this equipment. STN prides itself on quality equipment and installation as well as excellent customer service. www.stnlaundry.combill.f@stnlaundry.com203-645-3386
