Product Development Since 1998 Nor-Cal Products has developed 3 generations of pressure controller products each bringing more advanced hardware and software technology to the semiconductor industry. The advancement of this technology coupled with a variety of high-speed sealing and non-sealing throttle valves has helped enable the semiconductor industry to achieve higher throughput. lower costs, with far less scrap and thus higher profits. My contribution to these 3 product generations has been focused on the software development of the pressure control algorithms, many user communications interfaces such as RS-232, DeviceNet, Modbus, Ethernet, and analog I/O. Customer Support In the semiconductor industry it's extremely important to provide excellent customer support. The best place for the customer support to happen is before the sale. Show the customer how to best use the pressure controller and specialized throttle valve for their custom application. Most times I get involved with the customer when they are in a crisis mode and need something fixed immediately. In most cases that can be accomplished with a phone call followed up by an email or two. Travel The hardest part of providing excellent customer support is when the customer has the equipment installed on their tool and there is a problem. The customer might have very little experience with Nor-Cal pressure control products. Plus the customer is frustrated having spent 3 days working on the problem. When this happens it's usually best and more efficient to visit the customer. In the U.S.A. and Europe that is usually my responsibility. In S. Korea there is an excellent group of Nor-Cal employees that handle local and even some international travel. But sometimes the problem is a bit tricky. In that case I'll get on a plane bound for Japan, S. Korea, Singapore, or China to support the local team that is trying to fix the problem. We identify the problem and correct it. Show less

Developed fiber optic communication links and fiber optic multiplexer hardware to access remote sites for monitoring building addressable temperature sensors and addressable HVAC Digital I/O control boxes. These devices were used by the US Navy on Coronado Island as part of an energy conservation effort in concert with the local power company to limit electrical power consumption when signals from power company indicated high energy usage. The addressable Digital I/O control box attached to HVAC equipment would simply enable or disable the HVAC operation when directed by the main computer software. The temperature sensors sent data when addressed by the computer software. Embedded code for the temperature sensor and Digital I/O control box code used the TI 8051 (8031) platform. Show less
