Josh is an exceptionally hard-working, conscientious, bright, knowledgeable, and experienced Systems Admininstrator/IT Support Specialist. Far and away more productive, enthusiastic, and effective than nearly all of his colleagues, he is one someone whom I recommend unreservedly and wholeheartedly. Any company would be lucky to have him. Sincerely, Stuart Ward

For six-and-a-half years I had the pleasure of helping to run my family business with my wife and in-laws. Arete offered the entire gamut of IT services to home and business customers in the area. Not only did I develop my technical skills, but I also acquired experience running a business, with all of the inherent issues: making payroll, dealing with tax code issues, advertising, dealing with customer complaints, business networking, and interpersonal relations. The job required a tremendous amount of independence and self-starting ability. We designed websites, sold and built computer systems, installed and maintained servers, supported desktop PCs, and coded applications. Essentially, we provided soup-to-nuts service, sales, and support. We prided ourselves on our quality, expertise, and most important of all, our virtue. Our company was ultimately asked to take a seat on the Advisory Board for Seneca Data, for whom we acted as a VAR for the Nexlink line of products. In this position, we would advise the company on how best to meet the needs of both home and business customers, and made several suggestions for product configurations that were ultimately adopted Show less

After moving back home to Massachusetts, I took a temp-to-perm job at the Cash Management Control Center for Chase-Manhattan Corporation, and was converted over to a JP Morgan Chase & Company employee after the merger. I provided specialized level 2 phone technical support for the company's cash management suite, which included supporting services such as wire transfers, ACH, disbursements, and so forth. Our support operations were global and 24-7, with primary level 1 groups from across the world escalating issues that they could not resolve to our level. Often, I had to work in a number of legacy back end systems, resolving issues such as temporarily missing multi-billion dollar wires, and coordinating with the development department to help patch and resolve bugs in the application code. I had to pleasure of often coming in the top two on calls handled on the monthly statistics. Customers that I interacted with included cash managers from Bear Sterns and Goldman Sachs. Over time, my duties were expanded to include user product training, with a specific focus on automated clearing house; training sessions were conducted over the phone. Show less

FasTECH was a time-and-attendance company for large scale organizations (10,000+ employees). The company's assets were eventually purchased by Kronos in 2003. Initially, I was brought on board to help oversee the creation of a separate technical support department, in order to relieve project managers of that day-to-day burden. Several weeks were spent learning the product, considering the needs of a technical support call center, evaluating call software, etc. After I presented my findings, upper management ultimately decided to go in a different direction, which involved me acting as the single point of technical support contact, and then coordinating with project managers and developers in order to resolve current issues. Clients I worked with included Sarah Lee Hosiery, The New York Times, and Eastman Kodak. Over time, my responsibilities were expanded to include in-house lower-level IT support for the company, as well as assisting the IT Manager with duties such as providing at-the-elbow desktop support, along with installing and configuring Cisco routers and administration of the FTL and dial-up server. During my time with FasTECH, I acquired my MCP at their behest. Show less

This was part of a full time paid internship that I performed for degree credit towards my masters. I provided both on-site and on-call vendor technical support to users of an NIH SBIR funded Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system; at the time of my employment, the system was deployed to the ER, Cardiology, and the Level 1 Burn Trauma clinic. Over time, we were also additionally contracted to take over certain level 1 support calls from the internal IT department. At the end of my internship, I declined the company's kind offer of full time employment, though we parted on excellent terms. The CEO, Dr. Vik Kheterpal, was a tremendous mentor to me, and I always appreciated his personal involvement and interest. Eventually, the company was purchased by GE in 2000. Show less
